3 Gun Match at Summit Point, WV.

Jeff and I had the opportunity to participate in our first 3 Gun Match today in Summit Point, WV.  It was truly a humbling and eye opening experience.  Take everything you thought you knew about shooting and reloading and put it against a clock engaging various types of targets, shooting positions and the three different firearms needed for this event.  For those of you who are not familiar with 3 Gun shooting, you are shooting shotgun, pistol and rifle in different scenarios and shooting positions while being timed and scored on your misses.
The event was hosted by the Summit Point Shooters Associating.  It was conducted very professionally and the stages were set up very well.
Jeff used an FNX 40 and I used the FNX 9, the SCAR 16S and the SLP shotgun.  These firearms performed flawlessly and were very accurate and enjoyable to shoot.  The SLP is an excellent shotgun with its high capacity and handling it was our first time shooting it and we are ready to purchase our own.  The FNX pistols have very low recoil due to their low bore access and the "V" notch sight made picking up the front sight easy and they were very accurate as well.  Of course, then there is the SCAR 16S, what else can be said about it?  Ours performed very well with it's low recoil and the ease of handling, it was an investment worth every penny.
If you are interested in participating in the 3 Gun Matches held at Summit Point, please check out their website at www.spshooters.com and any of the FNH products can viewed at www.fnhusa.com where you can also find your local gun dealer.

What's new

It's been a while since my last entry.  We have had so much on our plate, it's hard to devour it all!  We traveled to PA for the NRA Convention at the end of April, where we had the privilege to meet "Top Shot" winner; Chris Reed.  You know, the person he was on the show is the person he truly is.  I would have loved to have the opportunity to interview him and really get the insight of how stressful things can truly be having so many eyes watching your every move.  Unfortunately, we just didn't have the time.
We were also blessed and honored to meet, from the shooting team and host, Mike Irvine; "Shooting USA".  Once again, I was impressed, by how these "gentlemen" are truly inspiring when it comes to the art of shooting and being men of the sport.  Not at all afraid to speak to me (a female of the "sport"), and too inspire me, (someone who is not of their caliber, but interested in becoming so), it was truly an experience I will not forget.
I look forward to sharing more with you in our travels this summer and also the fall.

Next on our list, 3 Gun shooting for Jeff at Summit Point, WV.

Shotguns and suppressors!

If you are like me and enjoy shooting firearms, you will be just as excited as I am about my next adventure.  On Sunday, I will have the opportunity to shoot the Saiga 12 shotgun and the Red Jacket Arms suppressor.  Yes, a shotgun with a silencer!!
Our famous friend and writer, "The Colonel", has written numerous articles for firearms magazines and has invited us to participate.  I love shooting shotguns and I love using my silencers, now I have the opportunity to see what I truly think of the two being combined.  I will share my delight or disapproval with you as the day ends on Sunday.

Happy Easter everyone and remember, HE IS RISEN!!!

Welcome!

I want to welcome you to girls Take Aim!  This blog is very important and special to me and I want to share it with those of you who are avid shooters, beginner shooters or who are interested in trying the sport.  I have been shooting since I was a child and being raised by with a father who retired a Major in the Marines, we were always taught gun safety.  Because of that upbringing, I always respect any firearm brought before me.

My vision is to share my opinion of firearms, both old and new and those yet to reach the market.  I want to educate you and give you the option to take this educational journey with me and as an NRA pistol instructor, I can even give you basic instruction.  I guarantee once you have had the basic instruction, you will want to venture further into the "gun world".

Please feel free to give me your feedback, both positive or negative and any questions you have, I will be happy to answer.

Again, welcome to "girls Take Aim".
